Sri Lanka Budget Tour Pinnawela - Sigiriya - Pinnawala - Anuradhapura - Kandy
This tour is ideal for the individual traveler who likes to explore Sri Lanka on his/her own. The hill country and the cultural triangle is rather difficult to cover effectively by public transport; so we provide you with a driver/guide for 5 days. The tour ends in Kandy from where you cab carry on by bus or train.

Day 1 Your Hotel - Pinnawela - Sigiriya
Start at 9.00 am from your hotel to the Pinnawala elephant orphanage. On the way through coconut plantations, traditional brick factories and paddy fields we'll reach the elephant orphanage to see the big animals bathing in the river. At 1.15 pm is the feeding of the baby elephants after which we leave the orphanage. Driving through Kurunegala (the town is surrounded by 7 rock formations and was the 5th ancient capital of Sri Lanka) we'll carry on to Dambulla and will reach in the late afternoon our guest house in Sigiriya.
Over night in Sigiriya.

Day 2 Sigiriya - Anuradhapura
In the morning around 8.00 am we'll start driving towards Anuradhapura and start the city tour of this ancient ancient city (3rd century B.C to 10th century A.D). Visit the Sri Maha Bodhi ( The oldest tree in the world with a written history and it is a sapling from the original tree under which the Buddha attained enlightment under it), the Brazen Palace, the Ruwanveli Seya Dagoba (The biggest dagoba in Sri Lanka), the Thuparama Dagoba (oldest dagoba built in the 3rd century B.C were the right collar borne of the Buddha is deposited), the Lankarama Dagoba, the Elephant Pond, the Abhayagiriya Monastery Complex, the world famous Samadhi Buddha Statue, the Twin Ponds, finest stone carving and the meaning of the moonstone, the guard stone , the Jethavanarama Dagoba and museum and the Isurumuniya Temple (Stone carvings of the Sri Lankan Romeo & Juliet). After visiting the city we'll stop for lunch in Anuradhapura and proceed to Mihintale. Visit the Mihintale Monastery Complex built in the 3rd century B.C, (The place where Buddhism was established for the first time in Sri Lanka ), the ruins of an Ancient Hospital, the Refectory Hall, the Lion Pond, the Cobra Pond, the Ambastale & Mihindu Cave. Afterwards we proceed to Aukana to see the highest Buddha statue in Sri Lanka, in one piece of granite and 13 meters in height it was built in the 5th century A.D. This statue was built by King Datusena while he was building the gigantic reservoir called Kala Wewa. After visiting Avukana we carry on to Sigiriya.
Over night in Sigiriya.

Day 3 Polonnaruwa - Sigiriya
After breakfast we leave the guest house to visit Polonnaruwa's ancient city (10th-12th century A.D), The Modern Museum, the Parakrama Samudra (Gigantic reservoir made by king Parakrama the great), the statue of King Parakrama, the Library shrine, the palace of King Parakramabahu, the Council Chamber, the Kumara Pokuna (pond used by the royal family with an interesting water flowing system), the Shiva Temple, the Thuparama Shrine Room and the Glittering Statues, the Stone book, the Rankoth Vehera, the Alahana Monastery Complex, the Gal Vihare (master peace of stone carving), the Thivanka Image House, the Lotus Pond and a wood carving factory to see how they make natural colors out of herbs.(The skilled carvers and woods are found in this area freely).and proceed to Habarana to have a Ayurveda massage or an elephant jungle safari.
Overnight in Sigiriya.

Day 4 Sigiriya - Kandy
Early morning we climb up to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress built in the 5th century A.D by King Kasyapa who was a patricide(Sigiriya is claimed to be the 8th wonder in the world). We'l visit the Water Garden, the Bolder Garden, world famous frescos, the Mirror Wall, the Lion's Paws, the swimming pool on the top of the rock after we head back to the hotel for breakfast.
After breakfast we proceed to the Dambulla Cave Temples (built by King Walagamba in the 1st century B.C with 22000 square feets of ceiling paintings). The next stop is Nalande Gedige (temple built in the geographical centre of Sri Lanka), the Spice Gardens in Matale. These gardens are famous since the dutch period. Later a visit to the Matale Aluvihare Cave Temple (where Buddhism was brought into book form in the 1st century B.C) and proceed to Kandy.
Overnight stay Kandy.

Day 5 Kandy City
We visit a tea factory, a gem museum, the Royal Botanical Garden (the best in Asia), a typical Batik Factory and in the evening at 5:30 pm a Kandian Dance Show followed by the Temple of the Tooth at 7:15 pm, right in time for the daily ceremony. The tour ends from Kandy.

The required deposit is 30% of the total booking amount and will be invoiced together with your confirmation; the balance to be payable directly after your arrival.

The above described tour includes transportation by air-conditioned vehicle with an English speaking chauffeur guide, accommodation and breakfast in selected Grade A guest houses. driver accommodation, driver meals, fuel and taxes are included.

Entry tickets, safari jeep, Ayurveda massage, elephant ride, lunch, dinner and tips.
